Stay Cool This Summer

Best of the Northwest (Tucson) Pools & Splash Pads

Look for ways to stay cool this summer? Well, we've got some great options for you!

1. Oro Valley Aquatic Center

23 W. Calle Concordia, Oro Valley 85704

https://www.orovalleyaz.gov/Government/Departments/Parks-and-Recreation/Facilities/Aquatic-Center

It is safe to say that Oro Valley Aquatic Center is one of our family's most favorite water spots. It features a variety of activities and is a perfect fit families with children of all ages. During the center's "Recreational Swim," featured activities include: the recreation pool, water slide, diving board, and splash pad. Be sure to check their website for specific days and times for the "Recreational Swim." A tip for when you're there: Don't be afraid to ask a lifeguard to open the slides or diving boards. They may appear closed due to no lifeguard at the activity, but once you ask another lifeguard, they will send someone to open it up. There is a ramada for some shade & the splashpad area has some shade. You can bring in outside food & drinks - just no glass containers. Our family loves taking our own camp chairs and spending the day! The facility has bathrooms/changing rooms and is handicap accessible.

The location features: a diving bay, 7 swim lanes, and ramada style shade. Children 14 and under must be accompanied by an adult. 3. Wade Mclean Pool

Another pool option in the NW Tucson area is Wade Mclean Pool by Marana High School. One of our favorite features of this pool is the zero depth entry. This makes it great for families with little ones to participate safely. And, in the entry area, kids can enjoy a fun "tumble bucket" feature. The pool also has a slide, a deep end, and 8 lap lanes. The facility provides bathrooms and changing areas. Family swim times are listed as Monday through Thursday 1 to 5 and Saturday 1 to 4. Be sure to check their website for an updated time changes. Also, be sure to check out the additional features at this pool such as: The Party Zone, Swim Lessons, and Junior Lifeguarding! This location has a lot to offer!

4. Heritage River Park Splash Pad

12280 North Heritage Park Drive

Hours: 8am to 7pm

Cost: FREE

This is a great option for families that aren't looking for a full swim experience! This splash pad is one of our favorites and features a variety of activities in the splash pad area. It is a large size for plenty of room to play. It also sits next to the park playground for back and forth fun.

5. Crossroads At Silverbell District Park Splash Pad

7548 N Silverbell Road

Hours: 8am to 7pm

Similar to the Heritage River Park Splash Pad, this location features fun elements in the splash pad area. It also sits next to a playground for back and forth fun. While it is a little smaller than our number 4 listed splash pad, it is still packed with all the same fun!
