Keeping your kids stimulated this summer won't be a problem with Summer Reading Programs offered locally and online.

This reading program is for children in first through sixth grades. Here is how it works:
  1. Children read any eight books.
  2. write about their favorite part in their Reading Journal.
  3. Bring the completed Reading Journal to your local Barnes & Noble store (Barnes & Noble in Northwest Tucson: Foothills Mall, 7325 N. La Cholla Blvd.)
  4. Choose a FREE book from the selection on the Reading Journal list at Barnes & Noble.

Book Adventure: A FREE, fun, and interactive way to motivate kids to read! Kids can find a book, take a quiz, and earn prizes!

Bookmans Read 10 Get 1 FREE Program: For every 10 books a child reads, they will receive a FREE book.
Requirements: The child needs to complete a book report for each book they read, including their name, age, book title and author, and why they liked or disliked the book. For children who can't write yet, they can submit a drawing and a parent can write a caption (optional) for each book they have read. After all 10 book reports have been completed, they can be turned into any Bookmans and your child will receive a $10 coupon to be used toward any book in the store.

Pima County Public Library Centennial Summer Reading Program:
The reading program is structured differently this year. The reading program's theme is Arizona's Centennial and Arizona history. Here is how the Summer Reading Program works:
  1. Pick up a Summer Reading Passport and Arizona Adventure Pass (contains discounts at museums, state parks, and other points of interest in Arizona) at any Pima County Public Library. Children, teens, and adults will receive the same reading passport.
  2. Decide on your personal reading goal and write it in your Summer Reading Passport.
  3. There are 100 Activities listed in the summer events calendar. Choose any 6 activities to complete during the 8 week program.
