Northwest Tucson Storytimes

Storytimes are not only offered by the libraries. Bookstores, coffee shops, and museums offer story times too, and many of them include singing, music, and arts and crafts projects. Storytimes are either free or are included with admission.
Links to the storytime websites are provided - please check there before you go for holiday closures and schedule changes.

A craft activity follows each Story Time. FREE.

  • Wednesday, June 6, 11:00 AM: Look at All the Animials Storytime. All about animals, today's featured stories are If All the Animals Came Inside by Eric Pinder, and A View at the Zoo by Kathleen Long Bostrom. Craft activity to follow the Storytime.
  • Saturday, June 9, 11:00 AM: Jump! Storytime Reading by the Author. Author Guy Porfirio will be here to read his book Jump! for today's Storytime. He will answer questions and sign copies following the story.
  • Wednesday, June 13, 10:00 AM: My Pet Storytime. Today's featured stories are Silly Doggy! by Adam Stower and Children Make Terrible Pets by Peter Brown. Craft activity will follow the Storytime.
  • Saturday, June 16, 11:00 AM: Toot and Puddle Costume Character Storytime: Bring your camera to get photos with our special guest, costume character from the Toot and Puddle books. Today's featured story is Charming Opal. Stay and make a gift for Dad after the Storytime.
  • Wednesday, June 20, 10:00 AM: Insect Storytime - Horsefly and Honeybee: Join us for fun stories with different insects, Horsefly and Honeybee by Randy Cecil and The House at the End of Ladybug Lane by Elise Primavera. Craft activity will follow the stories.
  • Saturday, June 23, 11:00 AM: Ladybug Girl Storytime. Ladybug Girl is back and on a whole new adventure with her dog, Bingo. Join us for stories and a craft activity.
  • Wednesday, June 27, 10:00 AM: Super Heroes and Princesses Storytime. Carmela LaVigna Coyle, the author of the series 'Do Princesses ... ,' has a brand-new book featured today, Do Super Heroes Have Teddy Bears? Craft activity will follow the Storytime.
  • Saturday, June 30, 11:00 AM. Chloe and the Lion Storytime. Learn just how important the illustrator is in today's story Chloe and the Lion by Mac Barnett, with pictures by Adam Rex. Stay and enjoy a fun craft activity.

Pima County Public Libraries:

At Storytime, children have an opportunity to do activities that promote development and learning. All programs are designed for parents to participate with their children; arrangements for school, daycare, or other group visits need to be made in advance. FREE.

Read to a Dog:
Trained and certified therapy and service dogs love to come to the library to listen to young readers. Reading to a dog gives children a chance to improve their reading skills in a relaxed, comfortable environment with a non-judgmental listener. FREE.

Wee Play with Miss Coco:

Children 4 years and younger will sing, read and laugh together with exciting weekly themes.
Tuesdays at 9:30 AM and 2:00 PM; Thursdays and Fridays at 9:30 PM; Saturdays at 10:30 AM. Included with museum admission.

  • May 1-5: Spirals. Spin with us as we read Swirl by Swirl: Spirals in Nature by Joyce Sidman, and decorate a spiral mobile.
  • May 8-12: Mother's Day. Celebrate Moms with The Mommy Book by Todd Parr, and color a "Mom" card.
  • May 15-19: Spiders. Sing along as we listen to The Itsy Bitsy Spider by Iza Trapani, and create a spider.
  • May 22-26: Shapes. Follow along as we read Perfect Square by Michael Hall, and decorate your own set of tangrams.
  • May 29-June 2: Quiet. Whisper as we read The Quiet Book by Deborah Underwood, and design a square of our community quilt.
